OPTILINE® Double-bottle set PLUS
(Water seal bottle with lip valve (non-return protection) and a separate secretion collection bottle.)
Air, secretions or blood are drained off from the chest cavity by gravity drainage or via an external suction source.
This system features a separate bottle which collects the drained off liquids while the drained off air is led to the water seal chamber bottle via a short tube with lip valve. Thus, the water column can be kept on a constant level regardless of the amount of drained off liquid, and a continuously low resistance towards the pleural or mediastinal cavity is provided.
The PLUS model also includes a special pressure lock as an additional feature. The water seal chamber bottle is filled with 925 ml sterilised water or saline solution, allowing for a maximum suction of 21 cmH2O, which is equivalent to the maximum immersion depth of the water column. Setting the external suction source higher is compensated for by the opening of the suction control tube. This keeps pressure below the maximum level.
The scaled suction control tube allows the suction intensity to be controlled precisely to meet the patient’s individual needs. The tube also has a backflow stop to prevent the spouting of fluid from the water seal chamber bottle if there is a temporary surge in pressure (e.g. coughing).
With the PLUS model, the tube connecting to the secretion collection tank also has a lip valve to prevent backflow and serve as a fistula indicator.
